Welcome to DebtZero ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application DebtZero (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience with our App.

By using DebtZero, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not download or use the App.

DebtZero is designed with privacy as a core principle. Unlike many financial apps, we do not require you to create an account, link your bank accounts, or provide sensitive personal information. Your financial data remains under your control at all times.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Financial Data You Create

When you use DebtZero, you voluntarily enter financial information to track your debts and payments. This includes:

• Debt Information: Debt names, types, balances, interest rates, minimum payments, and due dates
• Payment Records: Payment amounts, dates, and notes you add
• Budget Data: Income, expenses, and savings categories you create (Premium feature)
• Preferences: Currency selection, notification settings, and app customizations

Important: All this financial data is stored locally on your device using iOS Core Data. We do not transmit, upload, or access this information on our servers. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud backup (see section 4.2).

2.2 Technical and Usage Information

To improve the App and provide better features, we may collect anonymous, non-identifiable usage information:

• Device Information: iOS version, device model, screen size (to optimize layouts)
• App Usage Analytics: Which features you use, how often you use the App, crashes and errors
• Performance Data: App load times, feature performance metrics

This data is collected anonymously through Apple's App Store analytics and does not include any of your financial information or personally identifiable information.

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Local Data Processing

The financial data you enter is processed entirely on your device to:

• Display your debts, payments, and progress
• Calculate interest, payoff dates, and debt-free timelines
• Generate charts and visualizations
• Send local notifications and payment reminders
• Create budget summaries and reports

All calculations happen on your device. We do not send your financial data to external servers for processing.

3.2 Anonymous Analytics

We use anonymous usage data to:

• Understand which features are most popular
• Identify and fix bugs and crashes
• Improve app performance and user experience
• Prioritize new features based on usage patterns
• Optimize the app for different iOS versions and devices

This analytics data cannot be traced back to you or your financial information.

3.3 Marketing and Communications

We do not send marketing emails or push notifications because we don't collect your email address or contact information. All notifications are:

• Payment reminders you set yourself
• Milestone celebrations (e.g., "You've paid off 50% of your debt!")
• Feature updates delivered through App Store updates

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage (Default)

By default, all your financial data is stored locally on your iOS device using:

• iOS Core Data: Apple's secure database framework
• iOS Keychain: For sensitive settings (encrypted by iOS)
• Sandboxed Storage: Your data is isolated from other apps

This data is protected by your device's security features, including:

• Device passcode or biometric authentication
• iOS encryption at rest
• Secure enclave protection (on supported devices)

4.2 Optional iCloud Backup

You can optionally enable iCloud backup to sync your data across your Apple devices. When enabled:

• Your financial data is encrypted and uploaded to your personal iCloud account
• Data is transmitted using Apple's secure protocols (TLS/SSL)
• Only you can access this data with your Apple ID credentials
• We do not have access to your iCloud data
• Data syncs between your iPhone, iPad, and other iOS devices signed into the same Apple ID

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the App settings or iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud.

4.3 Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

• Local Data: Remains on your device until you delete the App or manually clear data
• iCloud Data: Remains in your iCloud account until you disable sync or delete the App data
• Analytics Data: Anonymous usage data is retained for up to 24 months
• Support Communications: If you email us, we retain correspondence for up to 2 years

4.4 Data Export and Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

• Export Data: Export your financial data as JSON files (Premium feature)
• Delete Data: Clear all data feature coming soon in a future update
• Uninstall App: Deleting the app removes all local data from your device

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Apple Services

DebtZero uses Apple's native frameworks and services:

• Core Data: Local database (no third-party access)
• iCloud (Optional): Encrypted data sync across your devices
• In-App Purchases: Managed by Apple (subject to Apple's privacy policy)
• App Store Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics

Apple's privacy practices are governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

5.2 Google AdMob (Free Version Only)

The free version of DebtZero displays banner advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

• Device advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• General location (country/region, not precise location)
• Device information (model, OS version)
• Ad interaction data

Important: AdMob does not have access to your financial data stored in DebtZero. Ad tracking is subject to iOS privacy controls (Settings > Privacy > Tracking).

Opt-Out Options:

• Disable ad personalization in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking
• Upgrade to DebtZero Premium to remove all ads

Google AdMob's privacy practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

6. Your Privacy Rights

6.1 General Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: View all data stored in the app at any time
• Export: Download your data in JSON format (Premium)
• Modify: Edit or update any financial data entries
• Delete: Remove individual entries (bulk delete feature coming soon)
• Portability: Export and transfer your data to another app

6.2 California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Right to know what personal information is collected
• Right to delete personal information
• Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell data)
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

6.3 European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right of access to your personal data
• Right to rectification of inaccurate data
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to restrict processing
• Right to data portability
• Right to object to processing

6.4 Exercising Your Rights

Since DebtZero stores all data locally on your device:

• You can access, modify, or delete data directly within the app
• No need to submit requests to us

7. Children's Privacy

DebtZero is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

The app is rated 4+ on the App Store because it contains no objectionable content. However, it is designed for adults managing personal finances.

If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us at privacy@debtzero.app and we will assist in removing any data.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes:

• We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Material changes will be announced via the App Store update notes
• Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy

Additional Information

International Data Transfers

Since all data is stored locally on your device (or in your personal iCloud account), there are no international data transfers to our servers. If you enable iCloud sync, your data may be stored in Apple's data centers, which are located worldwide.

Data Breach Notification

Because we do not collect or store your financial data on our servers, a data breach of our systems would not expose your financial information. If you use iCloud sync, your data security depends on your Apple ID protection (strong password, two-factor authentication).

Do Not Track

Some browsers support a "Do Not Track" feature. Since DebtZero does not track your browsing behavior or use web-based tracking technologies, this feature does not apply to our mobile app.

Legal Disclosure

We may disclose information if required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process. However, since we do not collect or store your financial data, we would have no financial information to disclose.
